
The group Utkarsh Dance Academy was founded in 1994 by Mrs Behnaz S. Todiwala – who still is the group’s director today. It is based in the city of Surat, located in the region of Gujarat in western India. This association is recognized by the Indian government for being specialised in classical Indian dances «Bharatnatyam», in Indian folk dances and in «Bollywood» dances. The group comprises more than 500 students, who attend vocational training to acquire skills and knowledge on the different dance forms. These students also seek to understand other countries’ cultures, in order to spread a message of peace, humanity and love through dance.
