Founded in 1980, the "Grupo Municipal de Bailes Regionales de Granada" comes straight from Andalusia, more precisely from Granada. The group is known for its excellent mastery of four emblematic repertoires of Granada's folklore, including the famous flamenco. The flamenco presented by this ensemble includes typical movements from Sacromonte, the gypsy quarter of Granada. The acoustic component plays a key role in the choreography: the dancers clap their hands, snap their fingers and mark the rhythm with their traditional shoes, which adds an extra dimension to the musical accompaniment.
In the interior of the province, the catetos are danced in popular, family, civil and religious celebrations with a specific costume called alpujarreño. On the coast, the fandangos are sung and danced with joy to a wild rhythm. One of the most famous dances, the fandango robao, is characterized by the fact that each partner steals the other's partner during the dance. Finally, the folkloric troupe also presents a repertoire of majos that come from the Escuela Bolera, the classical Spanish dance school.
